What is the iso vihan aika? I have seen it mentioned many times in Finnish histories but it has never been explained.

"Iso viha" (literally: the Great Wrath, Great Hostility) 1713 - 1721 is a period in Finnish history when the area of present-day Finland, then eastern part of Swedish empire, was occupied by Russia.
